Autonomous Mobile Robots
and Industry 4.0

Autonomous mobile robots increase efficiency, flexibility, and automation in industrial environments. In conjunction with other Industry 4.0 technologies, AMRs contribute to more agile, efficient, and flexible manufacturing.

Leverage These Advantages of Autonomous Mobile Robots

In Industry 4.0, digitalization and automation go hand in hand. Automated material flow and the interaction with warehouse management systems are crucial for a company’s competitiveness and efficiency.

Through real-time data transfer, material flow and inventory can be comprehensively monitored and controlled. Furthermore, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) are able to communicate with other manufacturing facilities, and control systems (ERP) to optimize the entire manufacturing process.

A key element of Industry 4.0 is the intelligent networking of machines, processes, and people. Mobile Industrial Robots’ AMRs therefore not only transport autonomously, but also work safely with human workers.

The use of AMRs in Industry 4.0 offers a variety of advantages.

Boost Efficiency!

Our AMRs are capable of working around the clock in a 3-shift model.

Work Flexibly!

Our AMRs are adaptable and can be integrated into various production environments.

Scale Easily!

You can easily expand your AMR fleet at any time.

Save Costs!

The use of AMRs reduces operating costs because fewer workers are needed to perform the respective task.

Improve Workplace Safety!

AMRs can avoid potentially dangerous situations (e.g., the use of forklifts) and improve workplace safety.

Digitalize Processes!

Our AMRs can communicate with production facilities, elevators, and process control systems - for smooth logistics processes.

Your Ideal AMR Solution with Mobile Industrial Robots

Mobile Industrial Robots is a leading manufacturer of collaborative, mobile robots (AMRs).

Modern Transport is Automated

All Mobile Industrial Robots (MiR) robots are user-friendly, flexible, safe, and make operations more efficient. The autonomous MiR robots belong to a new generation of mobile robots that quickly pay for themselves – often in less than a year.

We have been a MiR Excellent Partner for many years. Our customers therefore directly benefit from quick collaboration, our team’s expert knowledge, and attractive offers.

How an AMR Can Be Used in Industry 4.0

In the factory of the future, AMRs integrate seamlessly into digital processes. Here’s how they could look:

1 Component Production Completed

A new unit has been manufactured and placed on the transfer station.

2 Identification and Communication

The 3D camera recognizes and identifies the unit and communicates with the control system. The system decides on the next station for the unit (e.g., another manufacturing facility, quality control, or warehouse) and triggers a new mission in the fleet management system.

3 Mission Triggered

The fleet management assigns the mission to a suitable robot. The MiR robot leaves the charging station and plans the route to the source.

4 Robot Picks up Component

The MiR robot docks at the transfer station. It initiates a communication process via the Wi-Fi module to synchronize and secure the transfer (handshakes). The top module moves to the correct height and transfers the unit onto the robot.

5 Robot Transports Component

Once the unit is properly placed on the top module (logiCON Lift), the robot plans the route to the destination. If the process is not carried out correctly, the robot stops the mission and informs the responsible person (acoustically, by light signal, or by email).
Through fleet management and its communication capabilities, the MiR robot drives through roller doors, calls the freight elevator, and reaches the destination on another floor.

6 Robot Transfers Component

The MiR robot reaches the receiving station, docks, and, analogous to step 2, initiates a communication process (handshake) and transfers the unit. After successful transfer, the robot proceeds to the next mission or docks in a waiting position at the charging station.

Possible Components of Your Automation Solution

AMR with Top Module: MiR250 with logiCON Lift

The MiR250 is an autonomous mobile robot (AMR) that is easy to set up. Thanks to its compact dimensions, it seamlessly integrates into existing production areas.

With the logiCON Lift top module, the MiR can independently deliver transported material to a transfer station. The transfer height is individually adjustable.

Charging Station: MiR Charge 48 V

MiR Charge 48V is a fully automatic charging station where MiR robots of types MiR250, MiR600, and MiR1350 can autonomously charge their batteries when needed. The small, discreet charging station runs on standard power and can be easily integrated into almost any environment.

Camera: Mech-Eye 3D Camera PRO M

Three-finger gripper for round components. The PRO M is excellently suited for applications such as bin picking, sorting & order picking, palletizing & depalletizing, as well as component localization.

Transfer Station

In a fully automated logistics process, the pickup and drop-off points play an important role.

An ideal complement to the MiR Top Module logiCON Lift is therefore a transfer station with a conveyor belt. This allows the MiR robot to pick up and drop off products and workpieces entirely without human intervention.
