Rotterdam, June 27, 2025 – This year, the SPIE Football Cup once again brought together colleagues from all over Europe for an unforgettable event focused on sporting ambition and community spirit. For the Rasenrocker team, the tournament ended after the preliminary round, but for our colleague Christian, it was just getting started.
Second Chance and a Spot on the Podium
There was a second chance for eliminated players: they could apply for the ONE SPIE Team. Christian seized the opportunity and was lucky: he was drawn and thus became part of the newly formed team made up of players from various countries and SPIE companies. The result is impressive: Team ONE SPIE secured 3rd place in the Silver League!
All Teams on Board
The journey on Friday already generated excitement: the teams were accommodated on the SS Rotterdam, a former cruise ship with history, two decks to explore, and fresh sea air included. After check-in, they went straight to the Welcome Party, where players mingled in a relaxed atmosphere – a perfect start. On Saturday, the whistle blew: games were played on half-pitches, with six field players, one goalkeeper, and plenty of commitment. Despite the spontaneous composition, the team quickly gelled – football connects, after all.
Award Ceremony in the Traditional Stadium
The award ceremony took place in the stadium of Sparta Rotterdam – the oldest football stadium in the Netherlands. Not only was sporting effort recognized, but there were also fan merchandise and flower wreaths as a token of appreciation. But the day didn’t end there: the Players Night Party was celebrated extensively in the evening.
Team Spirit That Connects
Over the weekend, Christian made many new contacts, and one thing, in particular, stood out: the team spirit that extends beyond the pitch and the strong feeling that at SPIE, more connects than just work. After his strong performance, Christian is already looking forward to the next round. Thanks for participating!
