Karlsruhe, September 15, 2025 – The Apprentice Welcome Days have become a true tradition at SPIE: Every year at the start of the apprenticeship period, new apprentices from all business units meet at various locations to get to know the SPIE universe better. It started with getting to know each other, a warm welcome, and initial insights into our values and corporate culture. Important basic knowledge – from safety to the rights and duties as an apprentice – was also on the agenda right from the start.

Practice and Teamwork
The second day featured active agenda items: In the morning, a communication training session was scheduled, and in the afternoon, it was time for hands-on practice. In addition to other team-building activities, building a marble run was also on the agenda – a true team task that required teamwork, creativity, and, of course, a lot of fun. In the evening, a joint barbecue followed, where the apprentices could deepen their connections in a relaxed atmosphere.

HSEQ and Farewell Round
On the third day, the focus was on Health, Safety, Environment Quality (HSEQ). Among other things, it was explained how important it is to always wear the correct personal protective equipment (PPE). After a lunch break, the farewell round concluded the three intensive days – with many new impressions and a solid foundation for starting their apprenticeship.

Our SPIE AUTOMATION locations were also well represented:
From Pfullendorf, the new apprentices Yannis Seminara (Industrial Electronics Technician) and Elias Baiker (Industrial Electronics Technician) arrived together with training manager Manuel Schuler. Our Niederberg location was represented by its new apprentices Rafael Schüßler (IT Specialist for Application Development) and Ruslan Skovorodko (Industrial Electronics Technician), who were accompanied by instructor Daniel Bretzigheimer. From Haßfurt, our new apprentice Laura Dohles (Automation Electronics Technician) and her supervisor Manuel Hümpfner were present.

Team Spirit that Connects
The Welcome Days have shown: Apprenticeship at SPIE means much more than just technical knowledge. It’s also about community, safety, and mutual support. A successful start that inspires enthusiasm for the next steps. Thanks to everyone who made these days possible! We wish our new apprentices a great start at SPIE AUTOMATION!
