Trainee Welcome Days 2026

At the Trainee Welcome Days, SPIE AUTOMATION’s new trainees jointly embark on their training period. For three days, the focus is on getting acquainted, teamwork, communication, and important training-related topics.

Karlsruhe/Bayreuth, September 1, 2026 – The Trainee Welcome Days have become an integral part of the training start at SPIE. Each year, new trainees from various business units come together to begin their training.

Our new trainees from SPIE AUTOMATION were also present: Janis Kloz (Electronics Technician for Industrial Engineering), Hocine Bouabdallah (Electronics Technician for Industrial Engineering), and Noah Meyer (Industrial Clerk) from Pfullendorf, as well as Ilia Gvazava (IT Specialist for Application Development), Ruben Siferian (Electronics Technician for Industrial Engineering), and Samer Farhat (Electronics Technician for Automation Technology) from Niedernberg and Haßfurt. They were accompanied by trainers Leonie Hahn and Daniel Bretzigheimer.

Starting Together and Growing as a Team

The initial focus was on getting to know each other. Various team-building activities ensured that the trainees quickly started interacting. With foosball, table tennis, volleyball, badminton, and soccer, there was something for everyone, and it certainly wasn’t boring. Besides the fun, the goal was, of course, to come together as a group. Playing together, supporting each other, and sometimes stepping out of one’s comfort zone – that’s how you get to know each other best. For the trainers, the Welcome Days were also a good opportunity to get to know the new trainees better and to exchange ideas among themselves.

Focus on Communication and Teamwork

On the second day, the personality and communication training focused on effective teamwork and communication. Practical application was not neglected: trainees actively participated in various tasks, such as building a marble run. They had to adhere to several specifications: the track had to be a certain height, include a curve, and the marble had to travel for a specific duration. So, they brainstormed, built, tested, and refined together. Noah Meyer and his team ultimately succeeded best: their marble run took first place. Afterwards, the trainees concluded the eventful day with a relaxed barbecue.

Important Topics to Conclude

In addition to the joint activities, important information regarding the start of training was on the agenda. Among other things, the trainees gained insight into HSEQ (Health, Safety, Environment & Quality) and learned what to consider regarding personal protective equipment (PPE). Rights and obligations during training were also discussed.

The Trainee Welcome Days concluded with a joint feedback session. Trainees could share their impressions and reflect on the past few days.

Starting Training Together

After three days together, the trainees returned to their respective locations. In their luggage: many impressions, new contacts, and a little more insight into what awaits them in the coming years. For Janis, Hocine, Noah, Ilia, Ruben, and Samer, training now begins in their different areas at SPIE AUTOMATION. We look forward to accompanying them and wish them a good start!

The trainees were able to strengthen their cohesion and realized that many tasks only work properly as a team. It was great to see how they worked together and supported each other.
