The focus was on a pilot project for automating a dosing system. The goal was to map central process sequences in a PLC and visualize the entire workflow via an HMI simulation. This combined theoretical knowledge from their training with real requirements from industry.

From the initial idea to the finished implementation, the three aspiring technicians worked independently on the solution. First, the basic process steps were defined and a step chain was developed. Building on this, the control logic was programmed and the workflows were visualized. Typical challenges from practice were also part of it: troubleshooting, adapting data structures, or implementing simulations.

Particularly valuable was the close collaboration with the experienced colleagues at SPIE AUTOMATION. They supported the team with technical questions, provided insights into industrial approaches, and helped transfer theoretical knowledge into concrete applications. At the same time, there was enough room for independent work and creative solution approaches.

In this project, the aspiring technicians were not only able to deepen their programming skills, but also learn to structure projects, distribute tasks, and deal with typical challenges in everyday work. Topics such as time planning, team coordination, and solving unexpected problems played just as important a role as the technical implementation.

The project demonstrates how important collaboration between companies and educational institutions is. Through such partnerships, young professionals have the opportunity to gain practical experience early on and prepare specifically for entering the workforce. At the same time, companies benefit from getting to know young talent and inspiring them.
